Sylvia Beach, making waves in orchestral, chamber, and solo music.

Sylvia Beach is a new force in the New York City classical music scene, having held positions in The Juilliard Orchestra, Juilliard Wind Orchestra, Juilliard Opera Orchestra, AXIOM, and New York Youth Symphony, and performing in venues such as Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall, United Palace, and Peter Jay Sharp Theater. Her orchestral prowess displayed recently in the 2023 Kinhaven Music School Orchestra, where she held the Principal Horn position longer than any horn student that year. A fixture in the FMEA All-State Ensembles for 5 consecutive years, Sylvia's ensemble work encompasses co-principal and 4th horn roles at the Pinellas Youth Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras.

Sylvia also dedicates her artistry to chamber music as a current member of the Corte-Forte Horn Quartet and the TetraCor Quartet. She participates in the 2023-24 American Brass Quintet Seminar, where the Corte-Forte Quartet receives regular coaching and instruction from current and former members of the American Brass Quintet. Most recently, the Corte-Forte Quartet premiered Brad Balliett’s Common Backyard Dinosaurs live at The Juilliard School. Her previous chamber music engagements include chamber performances at Kinhaven Music School in 2023 and Pinellas Youth Symphony from 2018 to 2023.

As a horn soloist, Sylvia won the 2023 Pinellas Youth Symphony Concerto Competition, culminating in a performance of Gordon Jacob’s Concerto for Horn and Strings. While attending Kinhaven, Sylvia organized a horn studio recital and performed Jane Vignery’s Sonata for Horn and Piano. Most recently, Sylvia’s performance of Schumann’s Konzertstuck for Four Horns with the Corte-Forte Quartet named her finalist and runner-up in the 2023 Juilliard Horn Concerto Competition.

In tandem with her musical pursuits, Sylvia contributes to the arts community. As an alumni instructor at Tarpon Springs Leadership Conservatory for the Arts, she enjoys giving back to the community of young musicians in Florida. Furthermore, her leadership roles include co-founding and managing the Juilliard Horn Studio's social media presence.

Sylvia’s training includes private study under Carolyn Wahl for seven years and participation in masterclasses by leading conductors, artists, and educators in classical music. Sylvia currently studies under Erik Ralske at The Juilliard School where she pursues a Bachelor of Music in Horn Performance.
